LEARN
BRIGHT HORIZONS NATIONAL LANDING, ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project is a 14,000 sf commercial interior fit out located in Arlington, VA. The design converts unoccupied commercial shell space into a two level child care facility for 160 children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years, and incorporates a 4,500 sf outdoor play area into the adjacent community park.
Children are the basis of design for the project. The classroom plans include food preparation stations and changing tables for infants, and child-scaled restroom facilities for older children. Bright colors and fun patterns are used in the design of the spaces to stimulate development.
The Center has an art studio and STEM lab to promote learning and encourage creativity, as well as an indoor movement room with large windows, clear floor space, ballet bars, and play equipment. The design integrates child safety features derived from knowledge gained from previous Bright Horizons projects, including child height handrails at stairs and ramps.
